Character Design and Layout

Mookie the Pup! A small rotation I did for Enzo's class, also coloured.

Also exploring camera angles for layout, and I redid my first layout assignment. Much better now.

Kinda messy but got a decent mark! Now gotta work hard to meet all the deadlines next week. Goodbye sleep, hello stress. 

Layout Assignment 1

Some work in progress of a layout assignment, first part is coming up with a character in an environment. The upcoming assignments will be to place camera angles around the character to create a sense of story. Here are my processes so far.

sketched with col-erase, red for under-drawing and blue for some more defined lines.

Line art done in photoshop, need tones of practice doing clean lines.

Toned final, might make changes after prof give some feedback. 

Painting exercises

Florian assigned us some gouache painting exercises. Blending either opaque or transparent.

First animation assignment

When you get into animation school you gotta animate, no way around that. Here are a few that I did in the first 3 weeks of school.

Starting off with bouncing ball, bowling ball, balloon and pendulum to study momentum in movement. Decent exercises to get started, but not particularly paper-friendly. Around 250 sheets used. 

Some are poor quality since not all the linetest cameras are the same quality, but for the purpose of just linetesting they're good enough. 

After about half a year of hard-work, I've been accepted into Sheridan's animation program! Below is my accepted portfolio, with score sheet at the end.
